Freshmen

As I write this blog entry I am sitting outside on the chapel lawn in the shade using my jacket as a blanket. The weather is so beautiful today, and I am taking advantage of it! I was tired of doing homework in my dorm room, so I decided to bring my laptop outside for a change. It might be just a little bit chilly in the mornings (which means that I can have a mug of hot chocolate... yum), but right now it's in the mid-70's and gorgeous. It's a nice change from the 100-degree heat during the summer. If only it could be like this year-round!

Things have slowed down a little bit for me, so I'm using this change in pace as a time to get caught up on some things, rest, and prepare myself for the home stretch (until the end of the semester, at least). It's 4:00 right now and I have my homework done, as well as some other things that needed to be done before the weekend. It feels so good to get something accomplished!

Friday is Halloween, and next week is my birthday, and it's going to feel wierd not being at home for both, especially my birthday. My family's coming for the football game on Saturday, and then I'm going home for the night to celebrate with them, but I know already that it's going to feel strange waking up and not hearing fond wishes come from them before I leave for class. It's one of those realities of being independent, I guess. I'm just glad that I can still celebrate with them anyway.

It's so quiet and peaceful outside. I love it!
