Registering

This has been a pretty stressful week in trying to get school work done and registering for my classes. This time of the year a rel hassel for me because its just more things to do on top of school. I've had some experience with picking classes because of the last college i went to. The Advisors we had pretty much picked our classes for us. So it wasnt that bad in deciding what classes i needed to take. Here at Tlu they make you do it on your own. Which is a little tough if you dont know what your doing. It took a lot of time for to figure out what classes i need to take for TLU. Every college is different in classes that are required. This is a big responsablility on the students. I was able to manage to get all my classes picked out. I just hope when i comes time to register i'm able to get the classes i need.

Relating the Lessons of Nickel and Dimed To MY Life

By Regan on Nov 17, 2009 | In Uncategorized | Send feedback »

Since the age of sixteen, when I bought my first car, I have slowly been realizing the cost of a dollar. However, not until now have I seen just how much it takes to keep above the poverty line, much less live a comfortable lifestyle. In Nickel and Dimed she uncovered the horrors of living paycheck to paycheck on minimum wage or little above it. And sadly this lifestyle is not far-fetched or non-existent, it is all too common and can be seen in every town across America and in even worse situations in foreign countries. How can someone break their back everyday of the week and still not have enough to treat themselves to a nice dinner out or a movie? This book is an eye opener! I really feel for the people in these real-life situations of a minimum wage life who have dependents to support, poor health, or who become pregnant. Barbara Ehrenreich had a hard enough time surviving in the best of conditions. What happens to those without that luxury?

registration is my least favorite part of the year. You have to go through all these classes and look for the ones that fit around work and basketball and all the other "fun" classes that you want to take. Last year when i had this schedule all pickedout, and even had a back up plan, i couldnt take any of the ones i wanted. So the next semester i didn't even stress over it. Just picked from what was left, that way there was no disapointment. I wish we could just go to classes we wanted to, learn what we wanted to, andskip out on grades and registration, you either know it or you dont.

Gosh can registering for Spring 2010 classes be stressful. Its 1:45 a.m. and I'm still here working on it. Who would have ever thought. They say theres a light at the end of the tunnel, I guess the light in this is the semester finally being over. I myself have had a lot of ups and downs, but somehow made it through. This semester was a huge growning and learning experience for me. I had to deal with being away from my family, but on the other hand I have met a lot of new people that I can count on and that have become some good friends of mine.
